Parent Education Night: Thursday, October 23rd 6-7 PM
We are excited to have three different sessions available for MOM’s Parent Education Night this Thursday night from 6-7 pm. Please join us to hear one of the following sessions: Nutrition and the Young Child (suggested for Toddler and Primary parents) - held in the Lower Elementary 2 classroom. Kajal Patel, MOM parent and Certified Nutritional Consultant, will share tips and ideas to keep our children healthy. Logical and Natural Consequences (suggested for parents of children ages 3-12) - held in the Middle/High classroom. Elizabeth Irwin, MOM Education Director and Active Parenting Leader, will share tips and techniques for adding logical and natural consequences to our parenting “tool kit”. Reading Aloud with the Older Child (suggested for parents of children ages 6-12) - held in the Upper Elementary classroom. Laura Mason, adjunct professor at Middle Georgia State College and retired Houston County literacy coach/ teacher, will lead a discussion on this topic as well as give parents ideas and resources. Financial Aid Night (College bound) - Thursday, October 16th at 6 pm
We will be hosting a Financial Aid Night for students and parents interested in learning more about the HOPE program and other options for funding college. A college representative will also be discussing Dual Enrollment opportunities for High School students. The meeting will be held in the Middle/High classroom on Thursday, October 16th at 6 pm. It's Pansy Sale Time!!
It's that time again!! The annual Pansy Sale has started! Orders should be submitted to the office by October 14th along with payment. 1:00 Dismissal - THIS Friday, September 12th
This Friday, September 12th, is the last day of Session 1. School will dismiss at 1:00 pm on this date. There is NO Aftercare. ALL students dismiss at 1:00 pm. Have a great fall break!
Parent Education Night: Screen Time and your Child, Thursday, Sept 4th 6-7 PM
Please join us on Thursday, September 4th from 6-7 PM, to talk about screen time (i.e. video games, TV, Facebook, texting, etc.) and your child. Dr. Tanya Sharon (Professor of Psychology at Mercer University and former Montessori of Macon parent) will discuss the realities of what our children are exposed to and how it affects a developing mind. Several teachers will also be in attendance to share what they see in the classroom as a result of excessive screen time and violent video games. The meeting will be held in the Middle/High classroom. Come and share your thoughts and experiences. Light refreshments will be served.
Annual General Meeting (AGM) Sunday, August 17th 3-4:30 pm
Montessori of Macon will hold our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, August 17th from 3:00-4:30 pm. The meeting will be held in the Middle/High classroom. During this meeting we will discuss business items for the 14-15 school year as well as elect new Board of Directors members. Childcare is available for currently enrolled students. Graduation - Thursday, May 29th 6:15 p.m. at the Gymnasium of Vineville Baptist
Graduation is Thursday, May 29th from 6:15-6:45 p.m. This is a special time for all of our students and families as well as our last celebration as a community before we all embark on our summer adventures. Students who will be moving into a new classroom in July will “graduate”. These students will be recognized by their teachers with a certificate and a beautiful sunflower. While only the students moving into a new classroom will receive a graduation certificate, ALL the MOM students participate in the ceremony. When the graduating students have been recognized, all the students in their “new” classroom will welcome them with greetings and handshakes. It is truly a wonderful ceremony and we want all the MOM children to come! After the ceremony, you are invited to stay and enjoy food and good company.
Music & Munchies, April 26th 4-6 pm
Mark your calendar and save the date! Music & Munchies will be Saturday, April 26th from 4-6 pm. Music & Munchies is an annual event held for MOM friends and families. During this event, families are able to kick back and relax while enjoying great music, food and fun. Each family packs their own picnic. We provide the entertainment! There will be a bouncy house for the younger children and an obstacle course for the older children. MOM students will be performing throughout the event. This year we will also have a silent auction!! Bring your chairs, blankets, etc., pack a picnic for your family and come enjoy a great afternoon.
School Pictures - Tomorrow (4/1) & Wednesday (4/2)
School pictures will be tomorrow (4/1) and Wednesday (4/2). Toddler, Primary and Lower Elementary students will take pictures tomorrow, April 1st. Upper Elementary and Middle/High students will take pictures on Wednesday, April 2nd. Pictures are taken in the morning so please make sure your child arrives to school on time. Thank you.
